“Accented Blooms” Shaker Card

Hi there and welcome to the June Blog Hop for the North Carolina Stampin Up Demonstrators Group. This month our theme is anything new so I want to share a super fun card that has lots of visual interest. Starting with the summerlike colors used on the flowers (thanks to my Stampin Blends Alchol Markers, the texture of the basketweave embossing folder used for the background, the 3D effect using foam strips and the motion created with a little shake! Yes it’s a Shaker Card. Shakers are one of my favorite type of cards because the add that extra level of excitement.

Heres how I made this card:

This card uses a standard A2 card which is an 8 ½” X 11” piece of cardstock cut in half along the 11” side and scored in the middle. Resulting in a card that is 5 ½” X 4 ¼” I used Whisper White cardstock the base for this card. Cut a piece of Basic Black Cardstock   5 3/8” X 4 1/8”. Cut a piece of Pear Pizzaz Card Stock 5 1/8” X 3 7/8”. Use your Big Shot to run through with the Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder. Layer both on the card front.

Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock 3 ½” X 3½”. Stamp with the floral stamp from the Accented Blooms Stamp Set Color as desired. I used the Stampin Blends Alcohol Markers. Punch out the center shape with the Tailored Tag Punch. Highlight around inside edge with black marker if desired. Adhere a piece of clear Window Sheetcut 2 ½” X 3” to the back of this piece. Use the Foam Adhesive Strips to run a border around the punched out tag about 1/8” from the edge.

You want this placed so that it  doesnt show from the front of the card.  Dab inside of the tape with Embossing Buddy before removing tape backing. Insert the shaker bits of choice, leaving them towards the middle of the opening. For maximum “shake” do not overfill. Use heavyweight whisper white cardstock cut to 3″ X 3″ for the backing.  Use Tombow liquid glue or Tear and Tape to adhere to the front of your card, near the top.

Add a small black strip towards the bottom. Stamp onto scrap ¾” X 2 ¾”. Stamp with the sentiment from the above stamp set. Sponge edges if desired. Adhere with Dimensionals over the black strip. Stamp inside with same set if desired.
