The theme for this months Blog Hop is anything spring! I love everything about spring, flowers, sunshine, warm weather, and birds. One of my very dear friends has been struggling with the stay at home orders in our state and I wanted to brighten her day with a special card. She loves birds and like myself has multiple bird feeders, baths, and houses. We both have nests of bluebirds in our yards. That is why I chose bluebirds for the card front, but that’s not all – when you open the card you are surprised with an accordion fold and multiple layers of birds attached. Here’s how I went about creating this card.
Start with a piece of card-stock, I used Seaside Spray. Cut the sheet to 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ score and fold at 4 1/4″.

Choose a piece of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and cut to 10″ X 5 3/8″. Score at 2″, 3″, 4″, 5″, 6″, 7″ and 8″. Reinforce your score lines using a bone folder. Accordion fold on the score lines starting and ending with a Valley fold.
Attach the two end pieces to the card inside (front and back). I used Tear and Tape to secure this firmly since it will be a moving part.
Cut out 5 birds from the Bird Ballad DSP.

Using Whisper White card-stock . Stamp desired sentiment on one piece, the others will be used for the birds. Glue one bird on each piece. Glue the label to the inside folds of the accordion pleats. They will pop out as the card is opened.

For the card front I used a piece of Whisper White card-stock cut to 5 1/4″ X 4″ and then a floral piece of DSP cut to 5″ X 3 3/4″.
On another piece of WW card-stock cut 2 1/2″ X 4″ I stamped the stamp with multiple birds on a branch and colored it in using Stampin Blends. I torn the top and bottom and lightly sponged the edge.. For the sentiment at the top I cut a piece of Seaside Spray card-stock 3 3/4″ X 3″ and a piece of WW card-stock 1/2″ X 2 3/4″. On the WW I stamped a saying in Seaside Spray and adhered to the front of card near the top.

Thank you Nedine. I’m a paper hoarder and every time a new catalog comes out I look at my stash and think – I’ve got to use this beautiful DSP. So this was a good option for me. Glad you liked it.
