March Blog Hop

The theme for this months blog hop, with the North Carolina Demonstrators, is any current animal stamp.

I just recently purchased the Happy Tails photopolymer stamp set and it is so cute I couldn’t resist. We lost our dog before we moved to North Carolina. His name was Buster and he was the best dog ever! He was a long haired terrior mix that we rescued when he was still a puppy. The dog in this set remings me of him. Anyway, I digressed.

The stamp set comes with 16 seperate stamps and also has a punch which coordinates perfectly. I love when Stampin Up makes it easy for me. I dont mind fussy cutting but boy the punches are a real time saver.

My card is Whisper White with a layer of Real Red cardstock and then the stamped area is also Whisper White. The paw print in the set is the perfect size to create the heart shape and the sentiment talks about a best friend leaves a paw print on your heart. I used the Momento black ink. The sentiment is in Real Red and the cute doggie resembles my Buster boy!  I stamped the outline and then used my water pen to blend the color for the fur.

I stamped the saying “keep calm and wag on” in the inside of my card and then added a column of dog bones on the right edge.

I was putting  my stamps away and the dog house that is in the set inspired me, so I crafted a 3-D dog house in Crumb Cake. It is a simple milk carton fold that only uses a half sheet of our 8 1/2″ X 11″ cardstock. I thought it would be cute to go along with the card. Of course you can also fill the dog house with candy or even put a gift card inside for the recipient.

The mission delegated to each demonstrator was to use SIMPLE STAMPED CARDS in our classes. I feel this would definetly be a project that beginners could handle and they also learn a couple techniques; watercolor from your stamp pad a a 3-D fold.
