Thanks for stopping by, I have a cute card to share with you – and, yes I’M STILL SHAKIN’

I hope your summer is going well. It’s been warm here in North Carolina but I’m not complaining! As I mentioned last month with the Accented Blooms Shaker Card I do love me some shakin’ action in my cards. I also like to add as many textures and dimensions to my cards but still have it able to fit in a standard A2 size card with first class postage (no additional to add to the envelope) I think this card qualifies on all accounts.

Here’s what I made to share with you today…

IMG_0675IMG_0674

I started with a base card in Whisper White and cut another piece of Whisper White to    5 1/4″  X 4″. From a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock I used the Delicate Lace Edgelits because I felt it resembled waves on the ocean.  I sponged the base card where the opening was going to show through. The coloring on this card is all done with sponging. I love how quick you can get a very artistic look. I wanted to acheive a kind of abstract sunset at the beach look. I used Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody and  Balmy Blue for this part. I stamped using the script sentiment from All Things Thanks Stamp Set, being careful that it would show through the “window, towards the upper right side. I used  Soft Sea Foam, Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana  stamp pads for the front piece and the lace edging,  I used the layering squares framelits to make an opening for the shaker portion of the card.  I place a piece of Window Sheeting to the back side of the opening. I added the strips of foam tape around the edge (carefully so that it’s not to close to the edge. You don’t want this to show from the front of the card.

I placed my desired shaker pieces in the center. If you look closely you will see tiny fish cutouts. These were from the Under The Sea Framelit Dies. I just punched them out and added to the embellishments. They are very tiny so you have to be careful or they will be all over the place. Ask me how I know this????

I stamped the Egret from the Lilypad Lake Stamp Set and then fussy cut it out. I lightly sponged the body with Smokey Slate and where the legs are I sponged lightly with the Balmy Blue.IMG_0673

Of course I stamped two just in case I decapitated the poor animal while fussy cutting.

I used Dimensionals behind the lace edging. Let me just put out a shout out to Stampin Up for the new Dimensional packaging. The small triangles from around the edge are so easy to use. I used to cut the strips into pieces as needed but now that is done for us WooHoo! I also put Dimensionals behid the Egret’s body – again using the small triagles for the head area.

I added three of the Share What You Love Artisal Pearls towards the top. I always have to add some additional bling.

I’m glad you hopped by and hope you will hop along to all the other participating demonstrators blogs. We have such a fun and creative group. I am lucky to be a part of this!

Accented Blooms Shaker Card

Hi there and welcome to the June Blog Hop for the North Carolina Stampin Up Demonstrators Group. This month our theme is anything new so I want to share a super fun card that has lots of visual interest. Starting with the summerlike colors used on the flowers (thanks to my Stampin Blends Alchol Markers, the texture of the basketweave embossing folder used for the background, the 3D effect using foam strips and the motion created with a little shake! Yes it’s a Shaker Card. Shakers are one of my favorite type of cards because the add that extra level of excitement.

Heres how I made this card:

This card uses a standard A2 card which is an 8 ½” X 11” piece of cardstock cut in half along the 11” side and scored in the middle. Resulting in a card that is 5 ½” X 4 ¼” I used Whisper White cardstock the base for this card. Cut a piece of Basic Black Cardstock   5 3/8” X 4 1/8”. Cut a piece of Pear Pizzaz Card Stock 5 1/8” X 3 7/8”. Use your Big Shot to run through with the Basket Weave Dynamic Embossing Folder. Layer both on the card front.

Accented Blooms

Cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock 3 ½” X 3½”. Stamp with the floral stamp from the Accented Blooms Stamp Set Color as desired. I used the Stampin Blends Alcohol Markers. Punch out the center shape with the Tailored Tag Punch. Highlight around inside edge with black marker if desired. Adhere a piece of clear Window Sheet cut 2 ½” X 3” to the back of this piece. Use the Foam Adhesive Strips to run a border around the punched out tag about 1/8” from the edge.

IMG_0618You want this placed so that it  doesnt show from the front of the card.  Dab inside of the tape with Embossing Buddy before removing tape backing. Insert the shaker bits of choice, leaving them towards the middle of the opening. For maximum “shake” do not overfill. Use heavyweight whisper white cardstock cut to 3″ X 3″ for the backing.  Use Tombow liquid glue or Tear and Tape to adhere to the front of your card, near the top.

Add a small black strip towards the bottom. Stamp onto scrap ¾” X 2 ¾”. Stamp with the sentiment from the above stamp set. Sponge edges if desired. Adhere with Dimensionals over the black strip. Stamp inside with same set if desired.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and please hop along to view the wonderful cards my fellow Stampin Up Demonstrators have created.

New Catalog – New Colors

WOW a year sure goes fast when you are busy. I am always busy, but doing things I love (well, most of the time haha).

Being a Stampin Up Demonstrator offers me the opportunity to have fun, create, and meet some of the nicest and most talented people!

I am excited to announce my 2018 Catalog Launch Party and Card Workshop. The event is Tuesday June 19 here in Wake Forest NC. I also offer workshops via mail too, so everyone can join the fun.

Today I want to discuss with you an important part of the new catalog. It is a series of new, fresh colors that have been added to our pallet. Beginning on page #182 the colors are listed with color swatches. There are some that are brand new, some that have been brought back due to popular demand (I love when a company listens to its customers). Here is a list of the new ones:

2018 color chart

This next pdf is 7 pages of suggested colors that go along with each of our current colors. It is called a Color Coach. You will want to print these and keep them for your reference. I’m even laminating mine because I know I will be constantly looking them up.
