Confessions of a Paper Hoarder

Yes, I know it sounds terrible. Who would want to be a hoarder? Well perhaps it would sound better if I said paper collector. The truth is I have a hard time parting with my beautiful designer series papers and other specialty papers I use in my papercrafting. I look at a beautiful piece of paper and think “oh I’m going to save this for something more special”. Then it ends up getting stacked and forgotten about.

Well today is a whole new day… I am vowing to use my specialty papers on a regular basis. I created the following cards using papers I have been “saving”.

The beautiful strip on the left side of this card is from Stampin Up Eastern Palace Designer Series Paper. The minute this series bacame avaialble I knew I had to have it! Of course that was nearly a year ago. I know, not funny but true. Well this was the first paper I chose to use now that I have vowed publicly to stop “saving the good stuff”.

For this card I also used one of my favorite card stocks as the base. That is Lemon Lime Twist, and yes it is a Stampin Up In Color. The size is 5 3/8″ X 4 1/8″. In Color means it is part of a group of five colors that Stampin Up sells for a two year period. This beauty will be around till the new catalog comes out in July of 2019.  I have a confession; when I first saw this color I thought I would rarely use it because it looked so bright and I didn’t think it would go well with the color pallett that I typically choose. Well, that couldn’t be further from the fact. I use it all the time! It coordinates with all the other In Colors so well and looks great with just about everything!

Okay I digressed – back to the card. The stamp set is called Beautiful Peacock (item #147239) and it is available free with a qualifying purchase from the current (thru March 31st) Sale A Bration Catalog.

The layer of Whisper White cardstock is cut to 5 1/8″ X 3 3/4″. I stamped the large feathers with Tranquil Tide and the small flowers with Lemon Lime Twist.

The other colors on this card are Tranquil Tide and Bermuda Bay. I used the Scalloped Edge Layering Ovals Die with the Tranquil Tide card stock  and the Stitched Shapes Oval Die with the Whisper White cardstock. On the white oval I stamped the feathers behind the peacocks body with the gradient Bermuda Bay ink pad. I also stamped the words from this set, using just the darkest spectrum. I added a touch of yellow highlighter at the base of these feathers to bring in the lemon lime color. The body is stamped with the Tranquil Tide and I fussy cut it out and adhered it with a Dimensional pop dot. This was then attached to the scalloped oval and then both to the card front using Dimensional pop dots.

About right now you are probably thinking that I used the designer paper very sparingly and of course you are right, but hey, it’s a start. Watch for more of this beautiful paper in future posts.

I was on a roll, so I took out another of my favorie papers that I had been saving. It is from the Daisy Delight series and I just felt it was so pretty. I layered it with Old Olive and Daffodil Delight cardstock. DSC01177
