Thank you for stopping by this months Blog Hop for the North Carolina Stampin Up Demonstrators site. I know you will enjoy “hopping” on to all our creative demonstrators sites.
Welcome, today I have a cute card to share with you. This is one of my favorites and I am so sad to see it retiring and no longer available after June 3, 2020. But Ive already found many new stamp sets that I am looking forward to “playing” with. The more I “play” with them the more diverse I find they can be and they almost always spark my creativity. That’s just one of the things I love about Stampin Up!
The Little Lady Bug Stamp Set is featured on this card. I hope you enjoy it. I was inspired by fellow demonstrator Christi Wroe.
Here’s how I made it…
Start with a 8 1/2″ X 11″ piece of Basic Black Card Stock. Cute along the 8 1/2″ edge at 4 1/4″ then score at 5 1/2″ and 2 3/4″”. This is a top opening card and we will make it into an easel card with a surprise feature.
At the 2 3/4″ score line we want to cut out half of an oval. I used the layering ovals die to do this. I placed the die so only half of the black would be cut.

Next I cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock 4″ X 5 1/4″ and I cut out the same oval in the center, cutting the entire oval. I cut a scrap piece of WW 5″ X 3 3/4″and sponged it with So Safron, staying lighter in the middle and darker along the edges. I then adhered this to the other WW back.

On the front I drew small dots with my So Saffron marker. I then stamped the large flower and the Lady Bugs that I wanted to use. I cut them out with coordinating dies and colored them with my Stamp and Blend alcohol markers. I used the fine tip glue to create the shine on the lady bugs dots. I love coloring with these two tone markers that blend beautifully. Really makes the colors POP!

I placed the dies around the oval, leaving the center open. I also stamped and cut out the sentiment “You’re cute as a bug’ and a slightly large circle from a scrap of basic black.
I adhered the card front to the black, being careful to only place my liquid glue on the folded section.
Next I went to work on the inside, first, in order to make this an easel card you need something to stop the card from closing all the way. To achieve this I stamped “Hey Lady’ on a scrap and sponged the edge in real red. I cut out several flowers and leaves from the same die set using Granny Apple Green and So Saffron card stock. Towards the top I stamped the sentiment Thinking of You and then to finish it off I added the so saffron dots with the marker , placing these along the top and the bottom.

And here is the finished card.

In order to create the surprise element I added a battery operated tea light into the easel section. Viola’

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog I hope you will subscribe and look forward to creating and sharing with you. I talked about Lady Bugs so much, I thought I’d show you my other Lady Bug creation. Several years ago I started, with my Granddaughters, a Lady Bug Garden by painting rocks to look like lady bugs. Now I like to add something new each year.

Happy Stampin
