Thanks for stopping by, I have a cute card to share with you – and, yes I’M STILL SHAKIN’
I hope your summer is going well. It’s been warm here in North Carolina but I’m not complaining! As I mentioned last month with the Accented Blooms Shaker Card I do love me some shakin’ action in my cards. I also like to add as many textures and dimensions to my cards but still have it able to fit in a standard A2 size card with first class postage (no additional to add to the envelope) I think this card qualifies on all accounts.
Here’s what I made to share with you today…
I started with a base card in Whisper White and cut another piece of Whisper White to 5 1/4″ X 4″. From a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock I used the Delicate Lace Edgelits because I felt it resembled waves on the ocean. I sponged the base card where the opening was going to show through. The coloring on this card is all done with sponging. I love how quick you can get a very artistic look. I wanted to acheive a kind of abstract sunset at the beach look. I used Pineapple Punch, Mango Melody and Balmy Blue for this part. I stamped using the script sentiment from All Things Thanks Stamp Set, being careful that it would show through the “window, towards the upper right side. I used Soft Sea Foam, Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana stamp pads for the front piece and the lace edging, I used the layering squares framelits to make an opening for the shaker portion of the card. I place a piece of Window Sheeting to the back side of the opening. I added the strips of foam tape around the edge (carefully so that it’s not to close to the edge. You don’t want this to show from the front of the card.
I placed my desired shaker pieces in the center. If you look closely you will see tiny fish cutouts. These were from the Under The Sea Framelit Dies. I just punched them out and added to the embellishments. They are very tiny so you have to be careful or they will be all over the place. Ask me how I know this????
I stamped the Egret from the Lilypad Lake Stamp Set and then fussy cut it out. I lightly sponged the body with Smokey Slate and where the legs are I sponged lightly with the Balmy Blue.
Of course I stamped two just in case I decapitated the poor animal while fussy cutting.
I used Dimensionals behind the lace edging. Let me just put out a shout out to Stampin Up for the new Dimensional packaging. The small triangles from around the edge are so easy to use. I used to cut the strips into pieces as needed but now that is done for us WooHoo! I also put Dimensionals behid the Egret’s body – again using the small triagles for the head area.
I added three of the Share What You Love Artisal Pearls towards the top. I always have to add some additional bling.
I’m glad you hopped by and hope you will hop along to all the other participating demonstrators blogs. We have such a fun and creative group. I am lucky to be a part of this!
