I love the look of monochromatic cards. I think they are very elegant looking and yet I don’t think to do them that often.

I was inspired by a video I viewed of Alisa Tilsner. I asked if she would mind if I cased it because I loved the look so much. Here is my version:

The sepia look is a water-colored cake using Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, and Early Espresso.

I stamped it with the crumb cake and then started layering on the colors using my aqua painter. I let it dry completely then cut fussy cut it out.

I sponged a base that measured 5″ X 3 3/4″ using the crumb cake ink. Next I took a scrap piece of whisper white and stamped it with the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Sale A Bration stamp set, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU. I tore the edges; hint – to get a better effect tear the paper towards you and more of the rough edge will show. I then sponged those edges.

Last but not least is the assembly and embellishments. I used a base of Early Espresso card stock 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″. Next is a piece of Whisper White card stock cut at 5 1/4 X 4″. The sponged piece with the cake is then layered on.
I used plenty of dimensional s behind the cake so it would stand up through the mail. I then added a touch of wink of Stella to the flowers for a little extra sumtin’ sumtin’, the final topping was five of the Champagne Jewels. I just love these beauties!

I really love the sepia tone of your card, Sue. I’m inspired to give it a try myself. And I’m going to miss that stamp set once SAB ends, it’s really been a favorite of mine.
